T3: Who we are

T3: Transition Town Thames and T3Connect are about life in Thames

T3 is Transition Town Thames and T3connect is our website, designed to connect people in the greater Thames community.

Transition Towns are a locally driven global movement

There are over 300 Transition initiatives over 31 nations sharing their drive towards robust local communities. Initiatives work on a local level to increase the ability of communities to withstand crisis and handle change. They do this by creating a positive vision of their communities in a world with less cheap abundant energy, changing climate and a changed social, environmental and economic environment.

The focus is on creating the world we would like to see for ourselves, our children and our grandchildren. Transition Towns are a community tackling the challenges and opportunities facing us globally and locally.

We care about people and the environment and value connectedness

Core values include looking after the environment and our precious resources, employing local solutions, recognizing and helping to connect the great things already in our community, supporting youth and valuing older people.

We are local people doing local things

This movement reached Thames 3 years ago and has shown films, supported other community groups, run regular café get togethers and established a website for any community group and to get people talking. Who we are is, YOU. As soon as you join up, list an event, comment on a photo, you are engaging in the work of getting our community linked, connected and talking to each other.

How to contact us

You can contact us about the site here or email us at transitiontownthames@gmail.com

Its pretty straightforward.  When you sign up you'll be asked a few questions to make sure you're not a robot or some malevolent marketing tyrant somewhere exotic.

It will ask you for a picture - the site prefers JPG to all other formats.  However, you're not obliged to give one, and you'll be given a patchwork world image.  Quite fitting really!

If you've stopped getting emails from us (usually a news and events update every 2-3 weeks), its most likely you've changed your email address, and not told the site.

You can update this by clicking on the little cog/Settings button (just above here, up by the photos of members) and this will take you to your page, and there's an option to change your email.
